Welcome to Deeds Counseling!

Hello, I'm Anna Deeds, LPC, the owner of Deeds Counseling. My office is a safe and confidential space for adolescents, adults and couples to work through their challenges and achieve personal growth.

I take an evidence-based approach to counseling by focusing on cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure and response prevention, and the Gottman Method. I see clients both in person and via a HIPAA compliant Telehealth platform.

I do prefer seeing clients in person rather than through telehealth but I appreciate the convenience of telehealth. I feel in person counseling makes it easier to develop a therapeutic connection. And research has found that connection is a greater predictor of client progress than any specific technique.

Anxiety/Depression Counseling

Anxiety and depression are both treatable disorders. You can start feeling better in a short time with cognitive behavioral therapy. You can learn which thoughts are a part of your anxiety or depression, how to change these thoughts and how to use deep breathing, mindfulness and meditation to feel better every day.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Exposure and response prevention is the preferred and evidenced based therapy for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).  Exposure and response prevention provides a structured approach to overcome obsessions and compulsions for a better quality of life. You can learn how to live your life free of compulsions.

Couples Counseling

Couples counseling begins by taking the Gottman Connect assessment, which provides valuable information about the specific areas the couple needs to work on. During counseling, we use exercises that work on improving communication, reducing conflict and creating a healthier emotional connection for the couple.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during a counseling session?

During a counseling session, you can expect a safe and non-judgmental space to discuss your concerns and work towards your goals.

How long does therapy typically last?

The duration of therapy varies depending on individual needs, but sessions typically last around 50 minutes.

How often do you see a client?

While this depends on each person's needs, I see most clients weekly, especially in the beginning. As a client progresses, we may reduce counseling to every other week. We may even reduce therapy to monthly if the client is working towards ending therapy.

Is counseling confidential?

Confidentiality is a top priority in counseling, and your information will not be shared without your consent. There are some exceptions to confidentiality though. I have to disclose if you are a danger to yourself or someone else, if a child or elderly person is being abused or if I get a court order from a judge. You will always be informed if I am disclosing any information.

What insurances do you take?

I take Medicaid for Fayette and Greene Counties, Highmark, Aetna, Cigna, UPMC Health Plan and Optum. Insurance can be complicated and some insurances go by several names, so please call or text me at (724) 812-9895 if you don't see your insurance in this list. I take most commercial and non-commercial insurers in the Fayette County, PA area.

Does your office have parking?

Yes, there is a parking garage underneath the building. There are also lots before and after the building.
